As the owner of Licked, an eclectic ice creamery and bar, Ryleigh Phillips doesn't have time for that love stuff. Serving up Nibble My Nuts sundaes and Drunken Sailor boozy shakes are as close to an orgasmic affair as she's had in months thanks to her expanding empire—until the night of her ten-year high school reunion.
When Ryleigh's crush, gorgeous ex-football god Cameron Mathis, comes streaking into her life (literally—streaking), she begins to wonder if she really can have it all.
Wouldn't it just figure that the moment you think life is perfect is when it falls spectacularly apart?
Enter Hunter Morgan, the contractor in charge of Licked's renovations. Devastatingly handsome, and a smartass to boot, he's got his eyes on Ryleigh from the moment he finds her passed out on his couch (yeah, that's a long story). There's just one tiny complication—he happens to be Cameron's best friend.
When the lines between relationships and friendships blur, and it's impossible to choose between two delicious flavors, what's a girl to do? Taste a sample of each? Or go out and get LICKED?
Licked (L.A. Liaisons #1)
I think I spent the whole day with my mind in the gutter.Licked had the smutty in me smirking and giggling with my boasting going far and wide that I GOT LICKED. This book grabbed my attention a little while back with it’s bright and beautiful cover and catchy title. Then the chitter chatter started about this book that was funny, smutty and full of licking…ice-creams. Hmmm…very, very interesting, a highly successful business that caters to ice-cream lovers who don’t mind mixing it with a little bit of alcohol too. I can’t say I’ve seen too many stories set in an ice-cream shop. This is not your average ice-cream parlour though, Licked is pretty much Adults Only. All of the ice-creams have naughty names and meanings behind them.
Ryleigh is an individual and has been her whole life. She loves the fashion, music, and movies of the 50’s and 60’s. Even when she was in high school she dressed in vintage type clothing with halter tops, swing skirts or pencil skirts with a flip at the bottom and high-heeled pumps. It wasn’t easy to grow up different and for a little while, she tried to be like everyone else. It just didn’t suit her. The older Ryleigh got the more comfortable she became being original. She owned it and gained confidence in her individuality. Her best friends are her biggest supporters and like a family to her. They encourage her to return to her old high school for a 10-year reunion. She wants to see her high school crush Cameron and show him what he missed out on by ignoring her back then.
Funny thing is…Cameron saw her…and remembers her really well.
The romance portion of Licked is not straight forward. Ryleigh and Cameron connect at the reunion and it seems like there is great potential for this couple. Then Ryleigh meets Cameron’s roommate Hunter and she can’t get him out of her head. With her friends help, Ryleigh must make a decision on who she wants in her life. Her old crush who’s still hot and very sweet – O R – the sexy new guy who’s a contractor that ends up saving the day when Ryleigh needs some renovations done at Licked. Decisions, decisions? Ryleigh has HOT and SWEET on one hand and SEXY andLIFE-SAVER on the other?
I really enjoyed this story and got sucked in from the beginning to the end. I felt that the drama at the end was a little over the top, unnecessary and even a little rushed. The characters were easy to love and become attached too. I can’t wait for her friends to get their own story too.
Now that I’ve been Licked, it’s time to meet the Hooker.
A Style Setter Tribute to Licked.
Reading Licked and hearing some of outfits that Ryleigh wore kicked my Style Setter mind into action. Here are a few outfits I was inspire to create.
